One Shop —
AI-Driven Fashion Shopping App
The Problem
The shift to online fashion shopping has amplified an environmental crisis. About 30% all online fashion purchases are returned, creating millions of tons of waste annually due to customer dissatisfaction. This project aims to address the experiential gap between online and physical retail to reduce waste by increasing purchase satisfaction.
My Role & The Team
As the sole designer and researcher of the project, I was responsible for the following key areas:
- Primary & Secondary Research
- Data Synthesis
- Wireframes & Wireflows
- UI & Interaction Design
- Heuristic Evaluation
Triangulation of Methods

Through a triangulation of research methods—including online ethnography, questionnaire with 20 participants, and in-depth interviews—our analysis revealed key painpoints resulting the disconnection between the online experience and real-world expectations:
Online Shopping "Gamble":
Users lack confidence due to the inability to physically try on items.
Inaccurate Product Info:
Users distrust edited images and desire better material and sizing data.
Wardrobe Compatibility:
Items are often returned if they don't match a user's existing wardrobe.
Wasteful "Bracketing":
Users bulk buy and return items to compensate for online uncertainty.
Returns Process is a Hassle:
Dissatisfied users often keep items to avoid the difficult return proces.
The Journey: From Ideation to Solution
lightbulbIdeation & Wireframing
Brainstormed features to address the 'fit' problem, leading to the core concept of an AI-driven app, powered by a user's customizable virtual self.

Through heuristic evaluation and Think-Aloud protocol, the insights sparked a few area of improvement:

Following the testing, the iteration focused on improving status visibility, function availability, and color contrast to maximise interaction experience.
The Solution: High-Fidelity Designs
Our final design, One Shop, is a mobile-centered fashion e-commerce application that addresses the environmental waste from high product return rates by reducing the experiential gap between online and physical shopping. Utilizing an AI-powered fitting room visualizer, shoppers can have a better grasp on product compatibility and further boost purchase confidence before they purchase.
